Terms of Use
The Painted Collection: Terms of Use & Artwork License
Last updated: October 27, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms apply to anyone who joins The Painted Collection or downloads artwork from it. The Painted Collection is operated by Hansford House Designs LLC.
By checking the box at checkout, or by downloading or using any artwork, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and your business. "You" means the member and their business. "Artwork" means any watercolor file you download from The Painted Collection.
2. Membership, billing, and credits
Membership is billed monthly and renews automatically until you cancel. Each successful payment adds artwork credit to your account, which you use to choose artwork from the member library.
- Credit amount: your monthly credit amount is shown on the membership page when you join (currently $120 per month).
- Founding rate: members who join at the founding rate keep that rate for as long as their membership stays active. If you cancel and rejoin, you join at the current price.
- Rollover: unused credit rolls over from month to month while your membership is active.
- Credit has no cash value. It can't be transferred, refunded, or exchanged for money.
- Failed payments: if a payment doesn't go through, the payment is retried up to 3 times. New credit is added once payment is successful. If all 3 attempts fail, your membership is canceled.
- Canceling: you can cancel anytime from your account. Your membership runs through the end of the period you've paid for. When it ends, any unused credit is forfeited and no new credit is added.
- Refunds: because artwork is delivered digitally, membership payments are non-refundable.
- Price changes: prices for new members may change. Existing members get at least 30 days' notice by email before any change to their price.
3. Your artwork license: what you may do
When you choose a piece of artwork, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it in custom client stationery and event paper made by your business for an individual client or event. You may:
- Use each piece across as many custom client projects as you like, without buying it again.
- Use it in invitation suites, save the dates, menus, programs, place cards, signage, crests, monograms, patterns, and other coordinating pieces for one client or event.
- Crop, resize, rotate, recolor, layer, and combine the artwork with other Painted Collection pieces and your own typography, monograms, and illustrations.
- Show finished client work in your portfolio, website, and social media.
- Use it in semi-custom suites: designs you offer to more than one client and personalize for each order, delivered as finished printed pieces or flattened files.
- Use it in logos, crests, and brand marks you design for your clients. Because the artwork isn't exclusive, your client can't register it as a trademark or claim it as their own.
- Keep using artwork you acquired while you were an active member, even after you cancel.
Credit to Hansford House Designs or The Painted Collection is always appreciated but not required.
4. What you may not do
- No retail or repeat-sale products. Don't use the artwork in ready-made products sold as-is to many customers, such as greeting cards, art prints, or printables listed in an online shop. Semi-custom suites personalized for each client are fine. Email emily@hansfordhousedesigns.com about an extended license.
- No editable templates. Don't include the artwork in editable or design templates (including Canva templates) or any file that lets someone else extract or reuse it. Finished, flattened designs for your clients are fine.
- No reselling or sharing the files. Don't sell, share, sublicense, or redistribute the original files, or offer them as standalone digital assets.
- No AI use. Don't upload the artwork to generative AI tools for training, datasets, or image generation, or use it to create new or derivative artwork assets. This doesn't limit the normal design edits in Section 3.
- No other artwork libraries. Don't use the artwork to create artwork for resale or for another artwork library.
5. Files, ownership, and sharing
Hansford House Designs keeps all ownership and copyright of the original artwork. Your license lets you use it under these terms; it doesn't transfer ownership.
- Employees, contractors, and printers: you may give artwork files to an employee, contractor, or production partner when needed to finish an approved project for your business. They may use the files only for that project and may not keep, reuse, share, or sell them.
- Clients: don't give original artwork files to clients for their own future use. Proofs and finished digital pieces should have the artwork built into your completed design, not delivered as separate files.
- Downloads: you can re-download artwork you've chosen as many times as you need. Keep your own backup copies of the files you use.
6. Ending the license, disclaimers, and changes
- Breaking these terms: if you use the artwork in a way these terms don't allow, your license for that artwork ends and your membership may be canceled without a refund. Finished client pieces already delivered may stay with that client.
- As-is: artwork is provided as-is. Hansford House Designs isn't responsible for printing results, color differences between screen and paper, or how the artwork performs in a particular program.
- Limit of liability: to the extent the law allows, Hansford House Designs' total liability is limited to the membership fees you paid in the 3 months before a claim.
- Changes to these terms: these terms may be updated. Changes are posted on this page with a new "last updated" date, and continuing to use the membership means you accept them. Changes never take away the license to artwork you already chose.
- Governing law: these terms follow the laws of the State of Georgia, USA.
- Contact: questions about these terms or an extended license go to emily@hansfordhousedesigns.com.
